Hello from the mountains!

Wow oh wow did we get lots of snows!! All the blizzards like shut down everything so we ended up walking! Christmas was sooo fun! Because of the weather up in Dolores we got to spend Christmas eve with the Cortez Elders:) Christmas morning we all went as a district to eat breakfast and then went to our senior missionaries house to open presents! We got a new sister from Grants, Utah, she's awesome! It was really cool, I was really down and homesick on Christmas but you could literally feel the Savior with you the whole day, like he knew that his missionaries would miss home and he was right there to be our family.
YESTERDAY I BAPTIZED GARRY!!!! Ahh it was soo cool!!!!!:):) He was so worried that I wouldn't be able to pick him back up that he made another member help me...-_- I'm not that fat:P But oh man it was Awesome!!! Garry is the one in the middle of us, Ken Savage is the scary rough looking one! Haha he got baptized a couple weeks ago and he's the best. Literally Ken is the scariest person I've ever met but the coolest. He's an Ex Navy Seal, Ex Mafia, He was raised in the polygamist cult and beat the crud out of his dad and ran away to his LDS grandparents where they raised him.. Mom, Dad you think I'm bad? haha:) just one story from his childhood...

Kens neighbor made him mad so Ken first, went and stole a tractor, dug a 14 ft hole in the ground 20 feet long. Then Stole his neighbors brand new F-150 drove it into the hole left it running and dug it up....no one ever found the truck:P Haha but he's repented and is just the greatest! He's the one that took Garry in from the Walmart Parking lot and let him live with him!!

Cool right!!

Love, Elder Anderson

Garry got baptized!

Hello From the Snowy Mountains!

Today I found out why the missionaries get brand new trucks, they have one snow plow for the whole county and It's crazy. This week I did alot of service, we went with a member in his tank/ratrod/truck into the forest to get wood for some people. Last night I almost died, the sister missionaires...bless their hearts-_- Had been driving around town with a flat tire and at 9:40 at night they drove by us and the thing was almost on fire...So we pulled them over and changed it for them. Well, while I was under the car jacking it up, I forgot to double check that the parking break was on and we were kind of on a hill, the truck rolled forward off the jack and slammed down on top of me....I DID NOT SWEAR:) but the exhaust was like an inch from my face...Last time I climb under a car without checking everything:P Garry is doing so great, he's so excited to be baptized so he can go to his Crib in the temple. Everytime he prays he asks God that he'll save me and Elder Conrad a room in the Cellestial kingdom with our own lazy boys and TV's. He also asked us if he could spend the night in the temple, propose in it, and if he gets his own room...goodness he's the best. Red Dawg Is also getting baptized in a few weeks. He waked into church packing his .40 caliber pistol with a big scruffy beard and a leather jacket....PRICELESS. This week I did exchanges with our District Leader and I passed;) Mom I'll be skyping at the Smiths house:) They're the cutest family every! They have 2 teenage daughters, a son mathews age, and then they adopted like 5 african american children! They're like our family, they're having us over christmas morning to skype and for dinner:) I LOVE the present's!!! I didnt think I get presents for christmas!! It seriously made my life! I've been so busy I totally forgot that we open present's on christmas.

 I LOVE YOU ALL!

I Love My Mission!!

Heyo!! So today I'm up in Durango!!! It's so pretty!!!! We spent the night with the zone leaders so one of the other elders and I could practice singing and playing the guitar for the Christmas devo! Apparently a general authority is gonna be there so let's hope we don't mess up;) This week was so cool! We got this crazy ex Hells angels rider on date for baptism, Garry asked me to Baptize him, I dedicated a home, I scared my companion so bad he thought he was gonna die and he had to sleep with the lights on. We also did service and went to the Cortez parade:) such a cute little small town;) I would hate to live in Durango...this apostate town is gonna burn, all the college girls flirt with you and you just wanna jump in front of a bus...I miss my cute little town of Delores<3 So far I've taken close to 200,000 steps since I landed in Colorado:)
I LOVE MY MISSION!!!!

Heyo:)

Happy Thanksgiving!!! I ate at a member’s house in the other ward with all the missionaries for thanksgiving! They were from Winchester Virginia! Holy cow southern style thanksgiving was amazing!! This week was an adventure. We got more investigators from...you guessed it, the Toten Lake trailer park!! That place is literally gold for people that need to hear the gospel! One guy that we're teaching is getting baptized the day before Christmas, his name is Garry. He was in Toten Lake but he got kicked out and is living in his Van in the Walmart parking lot, so we're teaching him all the discussions in his Van at Walmart, It doesn’t madder where they are, the Lord provides a way for EVERYONE to hear the Gospel! So we were in an apartment complex in Delores trying to get a hold of a potential investigator and the spirit basically through me into this door...So I was like "Elder we gotta knock this one" well, he was about 30 seconds away from committing suicide. He had already downed so much alcohol I don't know how he was standing, and then he was going to take all of his blood pressure medicine. He literally just broke down and couldn't believe that God sent him someone to save his life. If I wouldn’t have been in tune with the spirit, he would have been dead. So the EMT side came out of me once I started to talk with him, haha. I gave him two options, we call the police or he lets us take him to the ER. He chose the ER;) wise choice...well it turns out he had an old record and ended up in Jail when the police came to take him home so now we're teaching the discussions in a van in the Walmart parking lot, the shady trailer park owned by the cartels and the county Jail:)

On Thursday morning we went up to Durango for a zone conference....HOLY BEAUTIFUL. I wanted to cry when I saw people fly fishing in the river...it is a spectacular place. So the reason I had you get my guitar was because I was volunteered by the Mission Presidents wife to play at our regional conference:P So lets hope I'm still coordinated to make a sound come out of it;) I'm excited though, Christmas is coming up and that gives us a really good excuse to knock on a random persons door to share a message about Christ. I'm witnessing miracles, giving priesthood blessings that heal people and change lives, I'm truly a disciple of Jesus Christ and He is using me to perform His work. No one could get me to leave this place, the work is real, God lives, and the Messiah is coming again!!

Hey Fam :)

Holy cow I cant believe Tyler was that sick!! Mom I eat at a members house almost every night and I don't need any extra money, and ill be thinking of Christmas Ideas. I've decided it takes to much time to write the group email and I just want to focus on family so you can feel free to update what you want on the blog. The computers I use wont let me receive any videos or send them :/ Thank you for the pictures tho, please keep sending them. Mathew I cant wait to see the crazy designs you come up with for the Christmas lights, you get to do anything you want if your willing to put the work in! Don't fall out of the tree;)

Bryan my zone is HUUGE so I hardly see any of them. We do have one set of Elders that we can go play basketball with at the gym but that's about it. The ZL's area is in Durango like an hour and a half away. My district leader is in the next ward over so we hang out with him every P day. I don't have an iPad but I've been diligently writing in my journal every day! I can't believe the success your having...

Everywhere I look there is physical evidence of The Book of Mormons. The natives have a very sacred ceremony that is similar to the temple and they wear similar clothing and only certain people can go. There's a picture on a ruin of the tree of life, tons of stories about a god that walked the America's. And EVERY single native, knows that the Book of Mormon is an account of their genealogy, they just think that we stole it from their stories and wrote it down...how much more proof can you get? All of there teachings are very very similar to the churches, things have been skewed and broken over a thousand years tho. So the area I'm in is apparently infested with cougars and bears and there was a bear in our driveway the other night. There's always cougar tracks around too, kind of interesting;) I spent 21 hours this week chopping wood...literally almost everyone up here still uses wood stoves, so everyone in the ward goes into the mountains to chop/haul/split wood...i am now very good at it;) On Saturday we had a convoy of dump trucks and trailers going into the mountains to get 12 or so chords of wood (that's a lot). After 7 hours we tried moving the dump truck but it had sunk into the ground....It took 3 trucks at the same time to pull that thing out.
I'm so excited to hear about your new job mom:)

Kyden and Brooklyn I miss you and love you so much! Every night I get to look at all the amazing pictures you drew me! I live in the snowy mountains right now and there are lots of Elk and Deer around me! You both did amazing in your primary program. I love you and miss you lots and I'm having lots of fun serving Heavenly Father!

First email!!

Well...I made it to Sunday, which is when everyone told me things would start speeding up! But honestly I've been having so much fun!! The first real night I was here I was assigned as the District Leader for district 29! I've loved this calling because it gives me an even greater capacity of love for my missionaries then ever before. I've already given several Sister Missionaries priesthood blessings and have been able to coach and love them all through they're trials! My companion's name is Elder Rice, he's from a small town in Oregon called Verionia! He looks like James Franco and we get along so well! So far we're the only elders in our district to commit the "investigator" Mike to baptism. It's all practice of course but the spirit really lets you feel like everything is so real!!!

I really love the MTC because of the spirit, I've never truly realized how much Christ is the center of all things we teach. People say the Book of Mormon is the keystone to our religion and I think this statement is wrong, It's Jesus Christ. I've truly been able to feel his love for me as I slowly convert my heart and soul over to his work. The first few days were all about me, but now It's all about my district, my companion, my investigators and most importantly Jesus Christ! I made my companion join the Choir so we can sit in the front row for when the general authority comes this week!

Haha sorry that got cut in half, but anyways we're actually pretty good singers;)  My branch president is president Gines! One of the counselors wife is a famous church actor and shes like our MTC mom! She's the mother that plays in the Cokeville miracle and shes also in 17 miracles and a list of other movies! She's just the best!! Well I love you all and my testimony of our Savior Jesus Christ has already grown to a capacity I myself don't Understand. All I can wrap my mind around is his character, when things happen that normal people would turn inwards to protect themselves, he turns outwards! I love this Gospel and I cant wait to shout it from the rooftops for 2 years!!!!!
